Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I smell gas?

To check for propane

Propane has an odor added so you can detect leaks. Make sure everyone in your household knows the smell of propane.

Propane is heavier than air, so it will collect at floor level. Carefully smell at floor level and in low spots. If you smell gas follow these instructions very carefully…

  • Put out cigarettes and extinguish open flames.
  • Do not operate any appliances, switches or thermostats.
  • Get everyone outside and away from the gas equipment.
  • If the gas smell is inside, call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s house.
  • Stay outside and leave the gas off until the leak has been found and fixed.

How do I become a customer?

If you own your tank or are adding new gas service to your home or business, all you need to do is give us a call. For new service involving tank sets and gas line installs, we like to come out and have a look around first.

If you lease your tank from another company, first check with them to see when your contract for their services expires. When you’ve resolved matters with them, give us a call and we’ll go from there. We don’t fill gas tanks from other companies, and they don’t fill ours. It’s just not ethical.

What tank size should I get?

Tank Sizes
120V 120 250 325 500 1000 1450

A 120 gallon tank is used primarily for gas log sets or in conjunction with a secondary heat source. They can be vertical or horizontal and are economical to fill.

250- and 325-gallon tanks are best suited for those who have gas appliances – water heaters, dryers, ranges, cooktops, etc. They could also be used in a smaller home for heating. However, depending on heat usage in winter, you may want to consider a larger tank.

A 500-gallon tank is a good idea for a larger size home. This tank would adequately supply gas appliances as well as heat sources. Again , home size, heat usage and insulation play a large part in gas requirements.

A 1,000- or 1,450-gallon tank would be recommended for large homes, commercial or institutional-style applications who rely solely on gas heat and/or run a large amount of gas appliances.

Please call your local office for a consultation.

Can I have my tank filled on a routine basis?

Sure!

Just call and tell us you’d like to be on our route. Our route customers are typically topped off every four to six weeks during the heating season. This is a wise thing to do- it keeps your tank filled and is a good way to keep your gas bills down.

What Other Safety Information Do I need to Know?

Odor Fade
The odorant in propane can fade under certain conditions (i.e. leaching through soil). If you suspect a leak and don’t smell gas follow the same steps for a leak with an odor.

Gas Detectors
Gas detectors will detect gas with or without an odor. They are recommended for the elderly or those who have trouble smelling the gas odor due to illness or injury.
